About Sierra Vista, Arizona

Established in 1877 and located 75 miles southeast of Tucson, Sierra Vista (Spanish for “Mountain View”) is home to about 45,000 residents. The city is bordered by the San Pedro River, one of the nation’s premier bird watching destinations. Referred to by bird watching enthusiasts as the “Hummingbird Capital of the US”, watchers flock to the Ramsey Canyon Preserve and other local canyons to observe and photograph hundreds of different bird species.

Sierra Vista’s average tempurature is 75 degrees. There are over 300 days each year that are sun-filled. Sierra Vista offers a wide variety of cultural and family-oriented activities throughout the year. Some of the major events include the Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering, the Festival of the Southwest, the Southwest Wings Festival, the Festival of Color Hot Air Balloon Rally and more. There are also golf courses, parks, sports clubs and more than 22-miles of hiking paths.

Indoor attractions include the Fort Huachuca Museum, Henry F. Hauser Museum and for shoppers, the Mall at Sierra Vista is an ideal destination. Offering more than 360,000 square feet of retail space and boasting more than 60 retail stores, restaurants and a theater.
